OVER FOUR THOUSAND FAMILIES IN KAFUE district Lima Ward area are to be evicted from the area to pave way for a forest reserve.
Speaking on behalf of the families, Christine Mumba says government has been threatening to evict the families since 1996.
"we have lived on this piece of land for more than 36 years and for one to come and tell us to move is very unfair," said Mumba.
The Families also appealed to Republican President Banda to interverne in the matter.
She says the families have been settled in the area for the past thirty years now.
Mrs. Mumba has since appealed to Tourism, Environment and Natural Resources Minister, Catherine Namugala to intervene in the matter.
The villagers have been earmarked for eviction to pave way for the forestry reserve area.
The affected villagers are complaining that sending them away from the land will render them destitutes as they whole lives is dependent on farming.
"We have been dependent on this land for farming and sending us away from this land will force us to become destitutes hence our appeal to Mrs. Namugala and the republican president Mr. Rupiah Banda to come to our aid," they explained.
